(Cost Effectiveness Modelling)

Start Date: From January 2017
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada (your first 3 months will be in Sheffield, UK to complete our intensive training program)
Are you interested in working in a cutting-edge industry, where you can develop globally valued skills and apply your math and statistics knowledge to improving healthcare?
If so, BresMed is offering an exciting opportunity to join our talented team, as we expand our successful health economics business to the US!
About BresMed:
BresMed works with pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, helping them to demonstrate the clinical and economic value of their products to governments and healthcare providers. This is mainly done through the development of health economic models, which utilize cutting edge economic and statistical methodology.

Headquartered in Sheffield, UK, BresMed is one of the largest privately owned health economics consultancies in the world. The BresMed team consists largely of mathematicians, economists and clinical evidence researchers. The office dynamic is intellectually stimulating, sociable and focused on results. We employ over 90 people in the UK, the Netherlands and India, and we are now expanding to the US.
Your responsibilities:
The core focus of your work will be developing economic models to demonstrate what would happen to patients on a new health technology (drug, device or diagnostic technique, etc.). This is achieved by modelling their costs and clinical outcomes in relation to existing treatments. The job is varied because every model is different, and your role will depend on your skills and interests, but most projects will require you to:

  • Research the disease area and understand the current treatment landscape
  • Analyze the effectiveness and safety of the new technology using results published in journal articles and patient level data from clinical trials or disease registries
  • Use research skills to identify appropriate inputs to populate the model
  • Design, build and interpret the results of the model – this requires technical Excel® and VBA coding skills
  • Report and explain what you have done – verbally, in a written document, or as a presentation
  • Produce submission documents to go to reimbursement bodies (such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in England) that assess the cost effectiveness and budget impact of new health technologies
  • Produce supporting documentation, such as technical reports and abstracts/posters, with a view to developing these skills to include writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals

Your skills:

  • You are expected to have a minimum of a grade B honors program degree, or equivalent, in a relevant major (such as mathematics, statistics, operational research, decision science, medical sciences, economics or computer sciences)
  • Excellent numerical ability and critical thinking
  • You are required to be computer literate and able to confidently use Microsoft Office® packages, especially Excel (VBA coding knowledge is valuable but not essential)
  • You will need to be able to explain complex calculations and ideas both verbally and in writing
  • You will need to enjoy working both independently and as part of a team

Compensation and benefits package:
BresMed believes in equality across our international companies and is therefore pleased to offer the following:

  • 25 days paid leave plus public holidays
  • Pension (upon completion of your probationary period)
  • Healthcare plan
  • A health and wellbeing program
  • An intensive 3-month training program at our UK headquarters in Sheffield
  • Competitive salary
